(A special thank you to Cape CrossFit for this valuable resource!)

• The most efficient, effective and safe fitness program – CrossFit means constantly varied, functional movements at high intensity. The results are measurable, the coaching outstanding:

Broad, general fitness – We offer a comprehensive approach, intending to improve all 10 physical skills that make up fitness: Cardiovascular endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Speed, Power, Coordination, Accuracy, Agility and Balance.

Measurable Results – The results of our workouts are measurable, observable and repeatable which makes it easy to track the improvements and is testament to the superior efficiency and effectiveness of the program.

Elite Coaching – Our approach is consistent with what is practiced in elite training programs associated with major university athletic teams and professional sports. CrossFit East London endeavors to bring state-of-the-art coaching techniques to the general public and athlete who do not have access to current technologies, research, and coaching methods.

Functionality – The movements in our program are based on are functional movements (like squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling), i.e. they move large loads, over long distances, fast and they are designed to mimic every day movements and are thus transfer ideally into real life, improving its quality. In addition, they go a long way in preventing and rehabilitating (sports) injuries and maintaining functional mobility and muscle balance.

Variety – The variety of movements keeps training interesting and fun, as we integrate what works best in olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, gymnastics, dumbell, kettlebell and medicine ball training as well as running, rowing, etc. In addition, we constantly increase our comfort zone and become ready for the unknown rigors of life and sport, any physical task imaginable.

Intensity – We keep our conditioning workouts short and intense. Compound or functional movements and high intensity or anaerobic cardio is radically more effective at eliciting nearly any desired fitness result. Startlingly, this is not a matter of opinion but solid irrefutable scientific fact.

Only the best – CrossFit is an open source program. If there were more efficient, effective and save training methods out there, we would adapt and integrate them.

Scalability – Our workouts are universally scalable so that they are always challenging regardless of your level of fitness: Everybody can do it.

• We have an amazing community full of people determined to making health and fitness a big priority in their lives:

Courage – We envision a community that is healthy, strong and vital, whose participants have the courage to live outside the generally accepted belief that health, fitness and vitality must decline with age or be hampered by perceived limitations.

Camaraderie – The atmosphere is one of camaraderie and support to anyone willing to put in the work.

Friendly competition – Our workouts are similar to competitive events. This competition is optional, good natured, has a positive effect on performance and displays the encouragement and support between participants.

Accountability – Ultimately, YOU are responsible for your health and fitness, for the results of your training. Our job is to help facilitate your learning and understanding – and help you be aware and responsible. We are looking to give you all the knowledge, experience and confidence so that you can make it through your life independently, healthy and fit.

Worldwide coaching resources – CrossFit has a network of amazing coaches and athletes worldwide which is easily accessible for anyone seeking more support and knowledge.

Similar mindset – While our students come from very different walks of life (athletes, writers, stay-at-home parents, business executives, etc.) they all share the mindset that they want to have a commanding impact on their health and fitness.

• Our holistic approach far exceeds the effect of a regular fitness program, affecting and improving other areas of life:

Mental fortitude – Our workouts are intense and challenge you to do things you think you will never be able to do. This requires you to be fully engaged in what you are doing, commends mental alertness, presence and focus – and will challenge you physically and mentally. These skills will carry over and improve other areas of life.

Lifestyle adjustments – We cater to the fact that the benefits of training and practice are multiplied by proper rest, sleep and nutrition, by assisting in adjusting these factors (e.g. nutritional guidance) for an overall fitter and healthier lifestyle.

The sport of Fitness – CrossFit is also “The Sport of Fitness”, because it re-introduces personal athletic achievement and performance to training. It is hard, but also fun, exciting and very challenging! Since 2007, there is also a competition for this sport: Annually, the CrossFit Games determine who the fittest people on the planet are.

Location & Space – Our emphasis is on space – space to move, to lift, balance, jump and climb – in other words, to work-out like an athlete, unhindered by people, equipment or other obstructions in the way. Central location is a bonus.

The program at CrossFit East London is suitable for any fitness level, BUT is certainly NOT FOR YOU IF:

• You are not willing to put in the work – We provide an excellent program, but ultimately, you are responsible for showing up and putting in the work.

• You are unable to make any sort of commitment – Fitness is not a quick fix. It is a lifelong journey and a state of mind. If you cannot make any sort of commitment, don’t waste your time or ours. We are committed to your fitness and we expect you to be, as well.

• You are looking for just another health club – We have no T.V.s (for watching during workouts), wall-size mirrors or pseudo fitness gadgets. We are about improving your life, not pampering you.

• You are not motivated – Do not sign up to a gym, because you feel you need to join to clear your conscious. Have goals and the motivation to achieve them.

(Thank you to Cape CrossFit for this brilliant summary!)
