- This Friday we will be hosting the Philippines Fundraiser 2014 – $10 (http://www.rxit.co.za/Content/Philippines%20Fundraiser%202014.aspx)
- Overview
- The Philippines Fundraiser 2014 will take place over the weekend of 11 and 12 January 2014.
- All proceeds will be donated towards relief efforts after Typhoon Haiyan.
- The monster typhoon left behind a catastrophic scene after it made landfall on six Philippine islands on November 8, leaving many without immediate access to food and medical care.
- It flattened some communities and displaced about 3 million people.
- “I decided to run this fundraiser because I felt a need and an ability to provide much needed relief and optimism to the unfortunate people of the Philippines.
- When I started CrossFit my love for it wasn’t predominantly the training but more the community and how I saw a global movement of like minded, good willed and passionate people. With such a huge community out there now we are in such a great position to make a difference. I had already decided to set something up for the kids in Syria and was planning how to set up when this tragedy happened.
- These peoples lives have been turned upside down and ruined in a way none of will hopefully ever have to experience and through no fault of their own.” – Andy Craig, Integrated Fitness
- Format
- It will follow the format of a throwdown and be hosted at each participating box. It will consist of 3 WODs over the course of a day all with scoring opportunities. There will be 12 scoring opportunities and a global leader board to see how you faired against the rest of your region and the worldwide community that takes part. Team leaderboard will be calculated using the top 6 men and top 6 women’s scores in each box.
